203 LIVE: Unidentified Serial Killers – The Connecticut River Valley Killer & The Redhead Murders

On this July 4th livestream, Tom and Jenny discuss two serial killers who have (so far) not been caught: the so-called Connecticut River Valley Killer, and the Bible Belt Strangler, thought to be responsible for a series popularly known as the Redhead Murders (due to the hair color of most of the victims). Lock your doors, fire up your sparklers, and get ready for some serial killer madness on a LIVE episode 203.

201: Italian Serial Killers! The Monster of Udine and the Soap Maker of Correggio

On this journey through the darkened cobblestone streets of Italian crime history, Tom and Jenny are discussing two little-known serial killers who emerged from the peninsula known for their kick-ass food and that whole Roman Empire thing. First we’ll discuss the enigmatic Monster of Udine, an unknown murderer who may have killed between four and sixteen people, many of them sex workers, between 1971 and 1989. Then we’ll dive into the tragic and bizarre case of Leonarda Cianciulli, otherwise known as the Soap Maker of Correggio, who was apparently motivated by some weird superstition to start killing women and turning them into soap and tea cakes back in the early 20th century. Settle in with a pizza slice and an espresso, and say buongiorno to episode 201.

197: Peter Kurten, the Vampire of Dusseldorf

On this chilling installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are breaking down one of the most depraved, but also somewhat forgotten, serial killers in history: the German psychopath known as Peter Kurten. In the years between the first and second World Wars, a number of serial killers proliferated across Germany, but Peter Kurten was one of the most remorseless and perverse, killing children, women, and men at random, sometimes drinking their blood, and possibly engaging in necrophilia. Hunker down in your wartime bunker and listen to the dreadful details unfold on episode 197. By the way, apologies for the crappy audio on the second half of the show…our mic decided to switch itself off without telling us. :-/

Episode 195: The Atlanta Child Murders

On this installment of 13 O’Clock, we’re returning to the true crime well to talk about the horrific series of crimes that occurred in Atlanta, Georgia from 1979 through 1981, in which 29 children and young adults were murdered. Wayne Williams was convicted of two of the murders and suspected in 23 others, but there are some who believe he might have been innocent, or at least may not have committed all the crimes he is suspected of. Settle in for yet another grim tale that we try our best to make entertaining…it’s episode 195.

192 – UK Crimes: Manchester Pusher, Sophie Lancaster, and the World’s End Murders (Angus Sinclair)

On this, yet another extra-long installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are delving into three infamous crimes that took place in Great Britain. First, we’ll discuss the theory of The Pusher, a somewhat mythical serial killer in Manchester who seems to be murdering young men by pushing them into canals. Then, we’ll tackle the horrific case of Sophie Lancaster, who was beaten to death (and her boyfriend Robert Malby beaten into a coma) by a random gang of teenagers just for looking “goth.” And lastly, we’ll get into the World’s End murders, the grisly rape and murder of two girls in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1977 which went unsolved for decades until DNA finally linked the crimes to serial killer Angus Sinclair (and his accomplice, Gordon Hamilton), who had also been responsible for several other slayings in Glasgow. Gather round your laptop and have your beverage of choice at the ready, it’s gonna be a long, drunken, crime-ridden journey on episode 192.

Episode One Hundred Ninety One: Serial Killer Samuel Little

On this chilling installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing the singular case of the man who — if all his confessions are legit — may be the most prolific serial killer in the United States. Samuel Little, a drifter originally from Georgia, was convicted of a total of eight murders in 2013, but is suspected by the FBI of being responsible for as many as 93 slayings of women in 19 different states since the early 1970s. Despite this, he still remains somewhat under the radar as far as well-known serial killers go, perhaps because he didn’t make his infamous confessions until 2018. So sit back and listen as the horrifying tale unfurls on a grim episode 191.

Episode One Hundred Eighty Nine: Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer

On this distasteful installment, Tom and Jenny are once again tackling a tale of an infamous Wisconsin wackjob…serial killer, rapist, necrophile, and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer. Though a seemingly normal child, Jeffrey developed into one of the most depraved American murderers, dismembering his victims and keeping their body parts in his fridge, attempting to make “living zombies” by injecting victims’ brains with acid, and various other horrors that were finally ended by his arrest in 1991. You might want to put off lunch for a while; it’s about to get grisly on episode 189.

Episode One Hundred Eighty Six: Ed Gein

On this particularly horrific installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing a killer so infamous that he served as the inspiration for THREE iconic horror villains: Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. Yep, we’re talking about Wisconsin’s own Ed Gein, a stoic, Midwestern handyman, murderer, and grave-robber who supposedly “only” killed two people, but nonetheless achieved immortality because police searching his remote farmhouse discovered an utter horror show of preserved body parts, including a suit made of women’s skin, a box of noses and vulvas, soup bowls made from skulls, and ornaments fashioned from pieces of corpses and bones. Creep through the ghoulish graveyards of Gein’s crimes on a gag-inducing episode 186.

Episode One Hundred Eighty Four: Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy

On this installment of the 13 O’Clock Podcast, Tom and Jenny are finally getting around to discussing one of the worst and most notorious serial killers in America…the so-called Killer Clown, John Wayne Gacy. This seemingly friendly and community-minded individual flew under the radar for years, but was eventually found to have raped and murdered at least 33 young men and boys, burying most of them in the crawlspace beneath his house. Don’t send in the clowns; just listen to the horrifying tale on episode 184.

Episode One Hundred Eighty Two: Valentine’s Day Special! Killer Couples Volume 3

On this lovey-dovey (?) installment, Tom and Jenny celebrate Valentine’s Day with a disheartening (ha!) breakdown of two terrible serial killer couples: Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez, otherwise known as the Lonely Hearts Killers, and the murderous Australians David and Catherine Birnie. Along the way, we also go off on many of our trademark digressions about everything from threesome erotica to doing your taxes while self-employed (yes, it’s all very romantic). Settle in with your sweetie, a big-ass box of chocolate, and the booze of your choice, and spend Valentine’s Day week with everyone’s favorite couple (us, naturally) on episode 182.

Episode One Hundred Eighty: Serial Killer Carl Panzram

On this installment, Tom and Jenny are finally getting around to discussing one of the worst American criminals of the early 20th century: Carl Panzram, a hulking, misanthropic savage who hated the entire human race and raped and killed indiscriminately in order to punish the world that had so mistreated him. Travel back to the bad old days on episode 180.

On this installment of the 13 O’Clock Podcast, Tom and Jenny are discussing the man who is thought to be the most prolific serial killer in American history: Gary Leon Ridgway, who in the early 1980s is believed to have killed somewhere between 49 and 71 women in the Seattle, Washington area. Episode One Hundred Seventy Two: A Cavalcade of Canadian Crime

Listen up, you hoser, because Tom and Jenny are traveling to the cold northern reaches of Canada to discuss four cases of Canuck killers. First up, we’ll be discussing serial killer David Russell Williams, a highly-decorated military colonel who led a double life as a thief, rapist, and murderer; then we’ll talk about the fame-whoring Luka Magnotta, a porn star and model who murdered, dismembered, and partially ate a young man and then uploaded the video to the internet for everyone to see; next, we’ll break down the horrifying case of serial killer Bruce McArthur, who stalked Toronto’s Gay Village in the 2010s and is responsible for at least eight murders, if not many more; and finally, we’ll recount the nightmarish slaying of Tim McLean, who was stabbed, beheaded, and partially eaten on a Greyhound bus by a person who had apparently suffered a total psychotic break. Let down your hockey hair and settle in with a steaming cup of Timmy’s, because we’re all aboot the Canadian criminals on episode 172.

Episode One Hundred Seventy: Boston Strangler Albert DeSalvo

It’s true crime time once again on 13 O’Clock, as Tom and Jenny break down the infamous case of the Boston Strangler, who killed as many as 13 women in Massachusetts in the early 1960s. Though Albert DeSalvo is generally credited with all the crimes because of his detailed confession, there are some who believe that someone else was responsible for the murders, or that there was more than one killer. Delve into the controversy on episode 170.

Episode One Hundred Sixty Eight: Ivan Milat and the Backpacker Murders

On this installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and jenny are returning to the true crime well to discuss the horrific case of one of Australia’s most prolific and vicious serial killers. Ivan Milat, known as the Backpacker Killer, brutally murdered at least seven young people vacationing in New South Wales, Australia, for seemingly no reason other than his own sadistic pleasure. It’s also believed that a few of his siblings may have allegedly helped him out in his sickening escapades, and his crimes were so egregious that he served as the inspiration for the 2005 Australian horror flick Wolf Creek. Keep to the main roads and suppress the urge to hitchhike, because the highways and forests are teeming with monsters on episode 168.

Episode One Hundred Sixty Five: Murder, 19th Century Style

On ye olde 13 O’Clock Podcast this week, Tom and Jenny travel back to the dark days of cobblestone streets and flickering gas lamps to talk about some largely forgotten, horrific crimes from the 19th century. First we’ll discuss the case of the Thames Torso Murders, a grisly series of killings in London that began before the Ripper Murders and even continued a bit after them; then we’ll focus our attention on Austin, Texas, where in 1884 and 1885 the so-called “Servant Girl Annihilator” was axing people to death in their beds; and lastly, we’ll delve into the obscure entwined cases of the Denver Strangler, believed to have killed at least three women, and Alfred Knapp, executed for one of the tangential crimes that is sometimes linked to the Strangler. Put on your deerstalker hat and pop in your monocle, because we’re traipsing through some old timey crime on episode 165.

Episode One Hundred Sixty Four: A Plethora of Poisoners

You might want to put down that delightful cup of chamomile tea you were about to enjoy, because on this installment, Tom and Jenny are discussing five horrifying cases of serial killers who used poison as their weapon of choice. First up, we’ll delve into the tale of Graham Young, otherwise known as the Teacup Poisoner, who “experimented” on family members with antimony and thallium when he was only fourteen years old; then we’ll talk about the mysterious Paraquat Murders of 1980s Japan, in which an unknown assailant adulterated vending machine sodas with weed killer; then we’ll go into the case of the infamous Nannie Doss, who killed a staggering amount of husbands and family members with arsenic; after that, we get into a discussion of William Palmer, a.k.a. The Rugeley Poisoner, one of the most notorious poisoners of the 19th century who used strychnine as his method of murder; and finally, we’ll summarize the tale of Mary Ann Cotton, another Black Widow style killer who likely murdered over twenty people, including several husbands and a bunch of her own (and other people’s) children. Have an ipecac at the ready; it’s about to get poisonous on episode 164.

Episode One Hundred Fifty Five: Bob Berdella, The Kansas City Butcher

On this grisly installment, Tom and Jenny are breaking down the case of Robert “Bob” Berdella, the serial killer known as The Kansas City Butcher and The Collector. Between 1984 and 1987, this former chef and dealer in antiques and curios lured at least six men into his home, drugged them, repeatedly raped them, and kept them captive for anywhere from a day to six weeks, perpetrating unimaginable torture on his victims before finally killing them, dismembering their bodies, and putting the pieces out in the trash. Grab your barf bags and pour a stiff drink, we’re about to get nasty up in here on episode 155.

Episode One Hundred Fifty Three: The Blackout Ripper and the Brownout Strangler

On this darkened, wartime installment, Tom and Jenny are delving into two horrific cases of serial killers who took advantage of the low-light conditions and general chaos during World War II to ply their grisly trade. On the first half, we discuss England’s Gordon Cummins, better known as The Blackout Ripper, who prowled the streets of London during one terrifying week in 1942, slaughtering and mutilating women left and right. On the second half, we go into the case of Eddie Leonski, The Brownout Strangler, an American serviceman stationed in Melbourne, Australia who murdered several women under similar conditions in the same year. Hunker down in your air raid shelter and turn your lights on full blast, it’s time for the historical horrors of episode 153.

Episode One Hundred Fifty One: Murder in Korea – The Hwaseong Serial Killer and the Frog Boys

On this installment of the 13 O’Clock Podcast, Tom and Jenny are discussing two lesser-known crimes from South Korea. The first is the unsolved case of the Hwaseong Serial Murders, in which a series of nine (or possibly ten) women and girls were raped and murdered in a rural town. Then there’s the weird case of the Frog Boys, five kids who went off to play one day and vanished, only to be found murdered eleven years later. Crank up the K-pop and pile on the kimchi for this Asian array of macabre murders on episode 151.

Episode One Hundred Forty Nine: Richard Ramirez – The Night Stalker

On this horrific installment, Tom and Jenny are discussing one of the most notorious American serial killers of the 1980s: Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker. This dirtbag terrorized southern California throughout 1984 and 1985, breaking into random houses and raping, murdering, and pillaging wherever he went, completely indiscriminate in his choice of victims. He is also infamous for being an avowed Satanist who seemed to genuinely believe that Satan was going to protect him from getting caught (spoiler alert: nope). Lock your doors, hide your valuables, and keep your loved ones close as we unfold the harrowing tale on episode 149.

Episode One Hundred Forty Seven: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders & the Murder of Marcia Trimble

On this heartbreaking installment, Tom and Jenny discuss two horrific murder cases from the 1970s, both involving Girl Scouts. First is the 1977 Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders, in which three little girls were brutally butchered while on a Girl Scout camping trip. The second is the 1975 killing of Marcia Trimble, who disappeared after setting out into her neighborhood to deliver Girl Scout cookies and was found dead more than a month later. Along the way, we go off on some of our inevitable digressions, especially about Girl Scout cookies, because of course we do. Lay in your stock of Thin Mints and bust out the tissues for another true crime two-fer on episode 147.

Episode One Hundred Forty Five: Serial Killer Albert Fish

On yet another gruesome installment, Tom and Jenny are talking about one of the most notorious serial killers of the 20th century, not to mention one of the nastiest fuckers to ever live. Hamilton Albert Fish was born in 1870 and grew into a man with pretty much every sexual deviance imaginable, and the whole rotten situation culminated in the 1920s with his murder of at least three children, at least one of whom he cooked and ate. Get the bleach bath ready and keep the anti-depressants to hand, because we’re diving deep into the twisted world of cannibal Albert Fish on episode 145.

Episode One Hundred Forty Four: Gilles de Rais

On this installment, we’re going full-on historical horror and discussing the notorious 15th century French knight Gilles de Rais, a fantastically wealthy war hero who fought alongside Joan of Arc, but is also suspected of raping, torturing, and murdering over 100 children and believed to the the inspiration for Charles Perrault’s tale of Bluebeard. But how much of Gilles’s criminal rap sheet is actually verified? Some researchers think that the entire litany of murder and mayhem attributed to Gilles was nothing but an elaborate witch hunt to get a hold of his vast fortune, property, and power. Don your armor and break out the brioche as Tom and Jenny break down the fascinating case of the alleged real-life Bluebeard on episode 144.

Episode One Hundred Forty Three: The Atlas Vampire and the Murder of Catrine da Costa

On this Swedish true crime two-fer, Tom and Jenny are breaking down two grisly and mysterious murders. The first is the baffling 1932 case known simply as The Atlas Vampire, whereby a woman named Lilly Lindeström was found dead in her apartment with nearly all of her blood missing, save for a few smears on a nearby gravy ladle. The second is the 1984 killing and dismemberment of Catrine da Costa, a crime which served as the loose basis for Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Bust out the meatballs and lingonberry jam and dig out your Viking helmets and IKEA coupons, we’re popping over to Stockholm for episode 143.

Episode One Hundred Forty: Pig Farmer Killer, Robert “Willy” Pickton

On yet another deep dive into the worst humanity has to offer, this installment of 13 O’Clock deals with serial killer Robert “Willy” Pickton, the Vancouver-based, millionaire pig farmer whose sole claim to fame is the fact that he would troll Canada’s poorest neighborhood, pick up sex workers and drug addicts, then take them back to the farm, rape and kill them, then cut up their bodies in his slaughterhouse and either feed the meat to the pigs or mix it in with the pork he was selling to the public. Buckle in and maybe lay off the bacon for a while…you’re gonna need a bleach bath after listening to episode 140.

Episode One Hundred Thirty Eight: Serial Killer Dean Corll, “The Candyman”

On this rather unpleasant installment, Tom and Jenny are discussing a horrific but slightly lesser-known series of killings from the early 1970s. Killer Dean Corll, sometimes known as The Candyman, was thought to have murdered at least 28 teenage boys in Houston, Texas between the years of 1970 and 1973. Even more shockingly, for some of the crimes, he was aided by his two teenage accomplices, one of whom had started his acquaintance with Corll as a potential victim, and eventually ended up shooting the killer and confessing all to police. Stay away from men in white vans offering free candy, and instead listen to Tom and Jenny as they break down the case on a terrifying episode 138.

Episode One Hundred Thirty Six: The Colonial Parkway Murders and the Highway of Tears

On this installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are turning their attention to two horrifying cases of murders associated with highways and travel. On the first half, we’ll discuss the infamous Colonial Parkway murders, a chilling series of “lover’s lane” style killings that took place in a small area of Virginia in the late 1980s. Then we’ll talk about the heartbreaking saga of the Highway of Tears, a stretch of Highway 16 in British Columbia, Canada where numerous women and girls — many of them indigenous — have disappeared or been found murdered from the late 1960s right up until the present day. Stay off the roads and settle in for another true crime examination on episode 136.

Episode One Hundred Thirty Five: BTK Killer Dennis Rader

Continuing our journey down the rabbit hole of the most famous and depraved serial killers, this installment focuses on Dennis Rader, aka BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill). This creepy, uptight sexual sadist methodically stalked his victims (who he horrifically termed “projects”) before finally breaking into their homes, tying them up and torturing them, strangling them to death, and then masturbating over their dead bodies. He also taunted police with a series of appallingly written messages. It’s another grim examination of the darkest corners of the human experience on episode 134.

Episode One Hundred Thirty Two: Ted Bundy

On yet another true crime-related episode, Tom and Jenny are discussing a serial killer who has resurfaced in the public consciousness recently because of a popular Netflix documentary: Ted Bundy. The handsome, charismatic (according to some) Ted is still a fascinating topic, since his supposedly clean-cut veneer masked a sociopath of almost unimaginable proportions, who murdered at least thirty women in horrifying ways. What was going on behind those blandly good-looking features that made him such a monster? And what were the consequences on the families of the victims? Keep your barf bag handy and maybe drink some soothing tea (or booze), because episode 132 is about to get rough.

Episode One Hundred Thirty: Valentine’s Day Special – Killer Couples UK Edition: Fred & Rose West, Brady & Hindley

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and what better way for 13 O’Clock to mark the occasion than with a special holiday edition, comprising two of the most infamous killer couples in British history. First up, Tom and Jenny explore the appalling case of Fred and Rosemary West, a married couple who perpetrated unimaginable atrocities on their own children as well as several young women they hired on as nannies. Next, we’ll focus on Manchester’s notorious Moors Murders, carried out by sadistic couple Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, in which the pair would lure passing children into a van and then proceed to rape and torture their victims before burying the bodies on Saddleworth Moor. Cuddle up with someone you love and listen in to episode 130, as you thank your lucky stars that your Valentine isn’t as fucked up as any of these depraved monsters.

Episode One Hundred Twenty Eight: The Toy-Box Killer and the Beauty Queen Killer

It’s two more terrifying tales of true crime on today’s installment of 13 O’Clock. First up, we’ll be discussing the notorious David Parker Ray, better known as the Toy-Box Killer, a serial rapist, torturer, and suspected serial killer who kidnapped women with the help of his willing accomplices and subjected them to the most brutal torture imaginable inside of his purpose-built trailer. Then, on the second half, we’ll be talking about Christopher Wilder, aka The Beauty Queen Killer, who became infamous after an unbelievable 1984 rape and murder spree that lasted several months and claimed at least eight victims, most of whom were beautiful young women who Wilder would lure out of shopping malls by claiming to be a fashion photographer. Prepare a stiff drink and settle in for the ghastly journey into depravity that is episode 128.

Episode One Hundred Twenty Six: Son of Sam

On today’s crime-ridden installment, Tom and Jenny are tackling yet another of America’s most notorious serial killers: David Berkowitz, better known as the Son of Sam, who terrorized New York City in 1976 and 1977 and was ultimately convicted of six murders and seven attempted murders. Though this loathsome creep was eventually caught, mysteries still swirl around the case. Did he really commit the crimes at the behest of a demon-possessed dog? Was he a member of a Satanic cult? Did he actually act alone, or were there other shooters? Travel back in time to the poisoned Big Apple of the 1970s on this bloody and violent episode 126.

Episode One Hundred Twenty Four: The Axeman of New Orleans and the Mulatto Axe Murders

It’s our first show of the new year, and what better way to start off 2019 than with a couple of old-timey axe murder cases? On this blood-spattered installment, we’re traveling back to the early 20th century to discuss the infamous unidentified serial killer known as the Axeman of New Orleans, who murdered six people and wounded six more between the spring of 1918 and the autumn of 1919. Then, on the second half, we’re delving a little deeper to talk about a nearly-forgotten rash of axe murders that took place between November 1909 and April 1912 in Louisiana and Texas that claimed the lives of at least 35 people. This series of horrific killings, known as the Mulatto Axe Murders or the Voodoo Murders, may have been perpetrated by an eighteen-year-old girl, Clementine Barnabet, who was allegedly a member of a voodoo cult and had several accomplices to her crimes. Was she really the monster she was made out to be, or was it all media hype? Lock your doors and fire up your jazz records, it’s time to swing the blade on episode 124. Happy New Year, everybody!

Episode One Hundred Twenty Two: Serial killer Capital – London, Ontario 1959-1984

Back on the true crime tip on this installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing the terrifying and fascinating run of murders that took place in London, Ontario, Canada between the years of 1959 and 1984. During this time period, the small Canadian metropolis was known as the Serial Killer Capital of the World, due to its unusually high number of serial homicides, most of them targeted at women and girls; not to mention the fact that London also played host to at least SIX serial killers at the time, and possibly many more who were never caught. What was it about this seemingly unassuming city that caused such a paroxysm of violence? Travel with Tom and Jenny to the blood-soaked streets of Murder City on this hair-raising episode 122.

First up, the mysterious case of the Circleville Writer, who wrote threatening letters to residents of a small Ohio town for years and may have been responsible for one murder and one attempted murder. Next, we’ll talk about the infamous case of The Doodler, an elusive and still unidentified serial killer who targeted gay men in San Francisco’s Castro district in the 1970s, luring them in by drawing their portraits. Episode One Hundred Fourteen: The Monster of Florence and the Vampire of Hanover

We’re returning to the true crime well for this installment of 13 O’Clock, and this time around, we’re talking serial murder, European style. On the first segment, we’ll be discussing the so-called “Monster of Florence,” a killer or group of killers who targeted camping couples in the Italian countryside in the period spanning 1968 to 1985. On the second half, we’ll be relating the case of German serial murderer Friedrich “Fritz” Haarman, also known as the Vampire of Hanover, who murdered at least 27 boys and men between the years of 1918 and 1924. Episode One Hundred Twelve: The Harpe Brothers and Belle Gunness

It’s another true crime double feature, but this time it’s American history style! We’ll be discussing two cases of some of the most brutal killers on the American frontier…the infamous Harpe Brothers, who murdered at least forty people in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois in the late 18th century, and the legendary Belle Gunness, a ruthless “lonely hearts” killer who murdered somewhere between fourteen and forty victims at the dawn of the 20th century and buried many of the bodies on her farm. Take a swig of sarsaparilla and slap on your spurs, because episode 112 is going back in time for historical crime.

Episode One Hundred Eleven: The NorCal Rapist and the Grim Sleeper

On this true crime two-fer, Tom and Jenny are getting topical, as well as examining two cases that have been suggested by several listeners. First up, we’ll be tackling the case of the infamous NorCal Rapist, an offender who carried out at least ten attacks between 1991 and 2006, and was finally identified just recently through DNA as fifty-eight-year-old Roy Charles Waller. On the second half of the show, we’ll be discussing the chilling case of LA serial killer Lonnie David Franklin, better known as the Southside Slayer or the Grim Sleeper, who killed at least ten victims in the 1980s and the early 2000s. Episode One-Hundred-Nine: The Zodiac Killer

On today’s cryptic and crime-ridden installment, Tom and Jenny are finally getting around to tackling America’s preeminent case of a serial killer who has never been caught: The Zodiac. Beginning in the mid to late 1960s, California was gripped in fear of the hooded gunman who largely targeted couples in their cars and ruthlessly shot them to death before sending taunting and coded letters to police and newspapers. Who was he, how many people did he actually kill, and will he ever be apprehended? Dig out your decoder rings and tune in for a discussion of the classic study in true crime that is episode 109.

Episode One-Hundred-Six: Mr. Cruel

On this crime-stuffed installment, Tom and Jenny are discussing the still-unapprehended Australian child rapist and murderer known only as Mr. Cruel. Similar to the Golden State Killer, Mr. Cruel is notorious for breaking into family homes clad in a mask, tying up the family, then taking one of the little girls away to rape before returning them later on. Tune in to the terrifying tale, which will commence after our introductory news story about yet another cold case murder that was recently solved with the help of DNA technology. Episode One-Hundred-Four: The Black Dahlia

It’s true crime time again on this grisly installment of 13 O’Clock, and this go-around, we’re tackling what is probably the best known unsolved murder case in American history: the horrifying slaying of the Black Dahlia. Back in 1947, dark-haired beauty Elizabeth Short was found sliced in half and drained of blood in an undeveloped Los Angeles neighborhood. Who committed such a vicious crime, and why? Theories and rumors have abounded in the more than seven decades since the murder occurred, and public fascination with the case shows no sign of abating. So listen in to our take on the notorious crime, along with an opening news story about a Florida cold case from 1994 — the brutal murder of Amy Gellert — and many, MANY of our famous digressions. Settle in for the long, blood-drenched saga of episode 104.

Episode One-Hundred-Two: The Snowtown Murders

On today’s soul-killing installment, we’re tackling what is probably one of the most notorious series of slayings in recent Australian history: the so-called Snowtown Murders, also known as the Bodies in Barrels murders. This horrific convulsion of torture and murder from the 1990s was committed by a ringleader named John Bunting and his extended group of henchmen, who targeted people they perceived as gay or “pedophiles,” and the crimes have been the subject of numerous documentaries in Australia, as well as a 2011 feature film. And if that topic wasn’t depressing enough, we’re also gonna talk about the ongoing case of the Croydon Cat Killer in the UK on our news segment, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: some chode (or chodes) who gets his jollies from slaughtering kitty cats and bunnies. Keep the liquor handy and buckle in for a rough ride on episode 102.

Episode ONE HUNDRED: True Crime Variety Special with Guests, Video, Kitties, and More!

Yes, we’ve reached an important milestone, folks: it’s 13 O’Clock’s big, bad ONE-HUNDREDTH episode! For months, we threw around different ideas about what to do for it, and in the end, we just decided to give our listeners more of what they seem to love most about the show: drunken rambling and horrific true crime stories. Plus, for those tuning in on YouTube, you will get to see videos of us in all our glory, plus little snippets of video of our kitties, and a 360 of our little office/studio, where the magic happens (the audio version doesn’t have video, obviously, but is still awesome and fun, so don’t feel left out)!

We also have special guests on the show: Shana, Eric, and zombie baby Demonika of BattleGlitta, who drank and laughed along with us as we delved into twenty of the most eerie and unpleasant true crime stories I could find. Creepiest disappearances! Horrible massacres of entire families! IT’S A MADHOUSE! Plus it’s like three hours long, so y’know…everyone take a potty break and gather all the snacks you’ll need before you settle in for the very long, vaguely incoherent, irreverent, and half-drunk installment of 13 O’Clock that IS episode 100. Hope you guys enjoy…we couldn’t do it without you! 🙂

Episode Ninety-Nine: Serial Killer Israel Keyes

On another of our true crime installments of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are examining the twisted psyche of serial killer, rapist, and bank robber Israel Keyes, a chillingly detached murderer who lived a double life and killed at least three people, and probably more than eight. His meticulous planning of his crimes, and the fact that he would often fly across the country in order to target individuals at random, meant that it took a long time to catch him, and once he was captured, he committed suicide, taking his secrets to the grave. Tune in to this oft-requested topic, a cross-country spree of serial murder on episode 99.
