If you lived in the United States in the 2000s, it was hard to avoid seeing those infamous commercials for Subway, in which a guy named Jared Fogle claimed to have lost nearly 250 pounds by eating a diet largely consisting of Subway sandwiches. The ads were so successful that the restaurant chain’s revenues increased dramatically during the long-running campaign, and Jared himself became so famous that he was parodied on South Park, appeared on Saturday Night Live, made cameos in two Sharknado movies, and became a multi-millionaire. But then, several years into the relationship between Jared and Subway, it was discovered that Jared…well, liked them young, let’s put it that way. REALLY young. The scumbag was eventually outed by a woman he’d sent disgusting texts to, and subsequently convicted of numerous crimes; he remains in prison to this day. Make yourself a sandwich and settle in for the appalling story of the downfall of one of America’s most beloved fast food spokesmen on a woeful and weighty episode 351.
